The need for this element came about due to the feedback from past teenage volunteers who expressed a desire for Festival activities that would reflex their age group. Yolanda Jefferson, a Planning Committee member of the St. Louis African Arts Festival (STLAAF), formed a youth sub-committee named, “Let’s Talk” in 2013. This new festival component is called “Safari Teens Hut”. It is designed to keep with the STLAAF mission of showcasing the richness of African culture and its impact on Western culture through African lifestyle, education, and the experience of hands-on memorable activities. The focus on teenagers helps to keep them connected to the Festival. So, teenagers come by the Hut this year and join other teens and have fun!
The STLAAF Youth Sub-Committee called Safari Teens, will be seeking teenagers to join in September 2017
